   Stop thinking in dollars and start thinking in percents. Every amount is relevant to the base price

   It’s a meaningless metric. If a share trades for $500, a jump to $501 is just a 0.2% move – basically the kind of a movement you can expect on a calm day for no discernible reason whatsoever.

   Conversely, if a share trades for $1, then a jump to $2 is a 100% move – which would be very, very rare outside the domain of penny stocks. Basically, it’s a “we were doing some renovations and discovered that the walls of our office are lined with gold bars” kind of a move.

   That is a very wrong way to think about stock. You have to think about the percentage increase from the base price or starting price.
