  1. I shot this a few months ago when we camped up at Glacier Point the last night before the road opened. Luckily, the Wilderness Center was willing to give me a permit to camp here even though they normally only do it in winter months. Two official rules are 1) You have to be 4 trail miles away from the valley or any road… this trail is 4.8 and with the road still being closed, luck was on my side again.

It was a beautiful and very cloudy sunrise at Glacier Point, one I hope to never forget. Shortly after the sunrise we ate breakfast and packed everything up to head back down to the valley. It was at this spot where I had to take my pack off and get my camera out, the colors and clouds here struck me.

I am a local here! I’ve been living and working in Yosemite Valley for 5 straight years now! 2. Wow that looks lovely. It’s been way too long since I’ve been able to get out of it all and just go into nature. I wish I could go see some fo the sights in America, but I’ll just have to wait until I have enough money to go on a giant hiking roadtrip I guess.

  3. This is such a great trail. My wife did not want to do it so I hiked down and she drove. I got to the bottom less than a minute before she arrived. I saw views I had never seen in all of these years.

  4. I went on a trip to California recently. We went to Yosemite for just 2 days. The first was spent at Glacier Point and Sentinel Dome, and the second was spent in Yosemite Valley. It was absolutely spectacular and I can’t recommend it more.

  5. It looks so different from when I was there just 2 months ago.

I hiked up 4 mile, then did the Panorama Trail, which came out to something like a total of 17 miles for the day. If I do it again, I need to bring a walking stick so the descent at the end doesn’t kill my knees as much.

  6. Breathtakingly beautiful photo!

I can only imagine how this would look during sunrise or sunset… on 6×7 Velvia/Ektar.

How was the hike? Did you feel your life was in danger at any point?

  7. Just did this hike a month ago and it was breathtaking. And a LOT harder than I expected. So glad we did it. So glad I got to see this view in person. Beautiful shot
